Would You Wear Another Womans Bra

Would You Wear Another Woman’s Bra? I have a controversial bra at home.

It is a bra that doesn’t belong to me, but now it does. In fact it has come to me third hand. Would you wear it?

When we were on our last holiday (a cruise), we were packing our cases on the last day and found this bra behind one of the drawers in our stateroom. It had fallen down the back of the fitted unit when the last occupant left the room and because it was right behind the actual drawer and not in it, the stateroom attendant had missed it when cleaning the room.

The discovery at first led to loads of “Eeeewwwwww”‘s from my kids and them picking it up with a pencil while they tried to find a bin for it! But then my mother came to the cabin from her own room down the corridor and rescued it. She was brought up with a ‘waste not want not’ attitude and declared it to be a perfectly good bra, it is practically brand new and if I wasn’t going to have it then she would! So she did!

Mum took it home, washed it, and wore it for a while until she decided it was too big for her, and she returned it to me. My cup runneth over—literally. I’m a lot bustier than Mum, so she figured that it would fit me.

It has been on the top of my bedroom drawers now for more than a month and I can’t bring myself to try the damn thing on. It is not an ugly bra- quite the opposite. It is a daytime bra, a comfy looking Playtex number, made of a cotton/ lycra blend and it is a leopard print style so it is quite nice. But it is still there- staring at me.

My logical brain says that it is clean, has been washed several times and in fact my own mother has worn it several times so there is a ‘buffer’ between me and the stranger who lost it. It’s not like the stranger would have had a disease or anything, but it somehow seems more preferable to know where the bra has been before me, rather than not knowing.

My mother reasoned that people buy new undies for their holidays, so the bra has obviously only been worn a few times at the most. As it was found on a cruise, it would be a shop-bought new bra anyway, rather than the possibility of it being a charity shop purchase with more than one previous owner!! But still, the bra haunts me.

I need to be a big girl and try the bra on. Maybe if I’m lucky, it won’t fit so I can give it to charity with a clear conscience, I can tell my mother that I haven’t wasted a perfectly good bra, as it wasn’t right for me!

After I wrote the last part, I was motivated to try it on. Guess what? The bloody bra fits! Looks like it’s off in my washer now for another cleaning before I’m brave enough to wear it out.
